Subclass 600 overview
The Visitor visa (Subclass 600) is for short stays: tourism, family visit, or business (depending on stream). You apply online (ImmiAccount).
Common requirements
- Passport – valid for at least 6 months
- Application form – completed online
- Photos – passport-size, meet Australian requirements
- Proof of funds – bank statements (e.g. 3–6 months), employment letter, or sponsor evidence
- Travel itinerary – what you plan to do and when
- Proof of accommodation – bookings or invitation from host
- Employment – letter from employer and leave approval (if employed)
If visiting family or friends
- Invitation letter with host’s details, relationship, and dates
- Host’s proof of status in Australia (e.g. visa, passport, utility bill)
Genuine visitor
- You must satisfy the officer that you are a genuine visitor and will leave before the visa ends.
- Strong ties to home country (job, family, property) and a clear purpose and itinerary help.
