Subclass 600 overview

The Visitor visa (Subclass 600) is for short stays: tourism, family visit, or business (depending on stream). You apply online (ImmiAccount).

Common requirements

  • Passport – valid for at least 6 months
  • Application form – completed online
  • Photos – passport-size, meet Australian requirements
  • Proof of funds – bank statements (e.g. 3–6 months), employment letter, or sponsor evidence
  • Travel itinerary – what you plan to do and when
  • Proof of accommodation – bookings or invitation from host
  • Employment – letter from employer and leave approval (if employed)

If visiting family or friends

  • Invitation letter with host’s details, relationship, and dates
  • Host’s proof of status in Australia (e.g. visa, passport, utility bill)

Genuine visitor

  • You must satisfy the officer that you are a genuine visitor and will leave before the visa ends.
  • Strong ties to home country (job, family, property) and a clear purpose and itinerary help.
