Affidavit of support for visa

An affidavit of support is a formal statement by a sponsor that they will financially support the visa applicant. For the USA, Form I-134 is commonly used for visitor and student visas. Other countries may require a similar letter or form.

What it usually includes

  • Sponsor’s identity and status (e.g. US citizen, resident).

  • Undertaking to support the applicant (accommodation, expenses, return travel).

  • Proof of income (tax returns, employment letter, bank statements).

US Form I-134

For US visitor or student visas, the sponsor completes Form I-134 and attaches evidence of income and assets. The applicant submits this with their application. Use our sponsorship letter template for a supporting letter and attach the form and proof as required.
