How to create a travel itinerary for a visa

A travel itinerary for a visa application is a day-by-day (or at least date-by-date) plan of your trip: where you will be, what you will do, and sometimes where you will stay. It shows the embassy that your visit is planned and genuine, and that your stated purpose (e.g. tourism) matches your plans.

Step 1: List your dates

Note your intended arrival and departure dates. They should match your leave approval and accommodation.

Step 2: List destinations and accommodation

For each night, note where you will be and where you will stay. Use hotel names and addresses or your host’s address.

Step 3: Add main activities

Briefly describe what you will do (sightseeing, meetings, family). Keep it realistic.

Step 4: Match other documents

Ensure your itinerary matches your cover letter, accommodation proof, and leave dates.
