Canada Visa Sponsorship Letter: Template for Visitor (TRV)

Canada visa sponsorship letter: what to include when inviting or sponsoring a visitor. Template for Canada TRV.

Canada visa sponsorship letter

A Canada visa sponsorship letter (or invitation letter with financial undertaking) is written by the person in Canada who is inviting and/or funding the visitor. For a Canada visitor visa (TRV), it should include the host’s details, the applicant’s details, the relationship, visit dates, and (if applicable) that the host will cover expenses. Immigration officers use it to assess the purpose of the visit and the applicant’s ties.

What to include

  • Host’s full name, Canadian status (citizen, PR), address, and contact.

  • Applicant’s name and passport number.

  • Relationship and purpose of visit.

  • Visit dates and where the applicant will stay.

  • If sponsoring: statement that the host will cover costs; reference to proof of funds.
